THe NEIGHBORHOOD
The apartment is located on the campo dell’Arsenale in the Castello « Sestiere », one of the most ancient quarters of the city. It is one of the last neighborhoods that remains genuine and hasn’t been invaded by shops selling masks and cheap glass artifacts. It is also very quiet and away from organized tours.
Via Garibaldi is very animated and offers the main retail shops including a couple of pharmacies, a supermarket as well as a vegetable grocer on a barge.
The San Giovanni in Bragora and Salizzada San Antonini area is very lively too.
Within walking distance is also the Riva dei Schiavoni from where the views of the bacino di San Marco, San Giorgio Maggiore and the Punta della Dogana are spectacular.
From the windows of the apartment, you will see most aspects of the daily Venetian life happening on the campo dell’ Arsenale right before your eyes.
Besides the biennale, there are a lot of historical and cultural sites nearby. The Scuola di San Giorgio and its famous Carpacio paintings, the Palazzo Grimani, the Querini Stampalia foundation, the Piazza San Marco with the Basilica and the Doge’s palace are all within a fifteen minute walk from the apartment.
Finally yet importantly, some of the city best restaurants are close by.
